ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for managing both strategic sourcing activities and operational procurement execution to ensure seamless end-to-end material availability, cost efficiency, and supplier performance. You will act as a key interface between suppliers, engineering, production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure alignment of technical, commercial, and delivery requirements. The role combines strategic supplier development, sourcing strategy creation, and operational purchasing execution including order management and purchase-to-pay coordination. You will contribute to supply chain stability by ensuring reliable supplier performance, optimizing procurement processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES but not limited to:

Manage end-to-end purchase-to-pay activities including purchase orders, delivery tracking, invoice verification, and complaint handling
•
Own procurement execution for the complete machine BOM, ensuring all required components are identified and ordered.
•
Review, consolidate, and place material orders ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery conditions.
•
Ensure procurement coverage for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, automation, and other machine components. Maintain a clear view of ordered, pending, received, short, and open BOM items.
•
Process technical and commercial inquiries from engineering and coordinate specifications with suppliers
•
Coordinate directly with OEMs, authorized distributors, and suppliers to obtain quotations, availability, lead times, and delivery commitments.
•
Negotiate pricing, delivery conditions, and contractual terms for technical and non-technical components
•
Monitor supplier performance including delivery reliability, responsiveness, and quality compliance
•
Manage supplier relationships including selection, evaluation, and long-term development of strategic suppliers
•
Track OEM lead times closely and escalate potential delays that could impact machine build schedules.
•
Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with cost reduction, risk mitigation, and supply security goals
•
Maintain and update material master data and procurement parameters (e.g., lead times, lot sizes)
•
Ensure compliance with internal procurement guidelines, quality requirements, and regulatory standards
•
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, logistics, quality assurance) for procurement alignment
•
Manage supplier escalations, delivery delays, and corrective action follow-ups
•
Support risk management by identifying supply chain risks and implementing mitigation plans
•
Drive process improvements and support digitalization and automation of procurement workflows
•
Ensure timely resolution of supplier complaints and invoice-related discrepancies
•
Support budget planning and procurement cost tracking activities

QUALIFICATIONS
•
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a comparable qualification
•
3–5 years of experience in operational procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain roles
•
Exposure to supplier negotiation and contract management processes
•
Business-fluent English skills
•
Basic knowledge of German is an advantage
•
Strong communication and negotiation skills
•
Structured, independent, and proactive work style
•
Strong teamwork skills and a confident demeanor when interacting with internal and external partners
